Change settings and modes

The basic control sequence is simple: select the control, adjust it with the press-and-turn knob, then confirm.

Check the unit: Button paths below were verified against the U.S. software 3.0.x manual. On the ventilator, open System → Info to confirm its software version and installed options.

1Change one controlControls → Basic → touch → turn → press
  1. Open the controls. Touch Controls. Some frequently used controls also appear on the right side of the main display.
  2. Activate the control. Touch the onscreen control. A selected control has a yellow outline; an active control turns orange.
  3. Adjust the value. Turn the press-and-turn (P&T) knob.
  4. Confirm. Press the P&T knob or touch the control again. The confirmed setting is applied immediately.

The same select–adjust–confirm sequence applies whether the control is opened from Controls → Basic or directly from the main display.

2Find common controlsThe labels shown depend on the active mode

Controls → Basic
Mode controls such as Oxygen, PEEP/CPAP, Rate, Vt in APV modes, or ΔPcontrol/ΔPinsp/ΔPsupport in pressure modes. Timing controls and readouts vary by mode and configuration.

Controls → More
Additional controls such as Sigh and other mode-dependent options.

Controls → Apnea
Apnea-backup status and settings when applicable.

Alarms or a main monitoring parameter
Alarm-limit controls.

Hamilton pressure labels are delta pressures. In common pressure modes, ΔPcontrol, ΔPinsp, and ΔPsupport are set above PEEP/CPAP. Review the resulting total inspiratory pressure and Plimit on the screen.

3Change the ventilation modeSelect, confirm, review, confirm
  1. Touch the current mode name at the upper left or touch Modes.
  2. Select the new mode and touch Confirm.
  3. Review the controls shown for that mode, adjust them as needed, and confirm the settings.
  4. The mode change occurs at the end of the current breath cycle.

Deliberate pause: Confirm the displayed mode and all mode-specific controls before leaving the window.

4Confirm software and installed optionsSystem → Info
  1. Touch System.
  2. Touch Info if that tab is not already open.
  3. Review the model, software version, and installed options.

Use this when a button path or monitored value on the local unit does not match the guide.

5What this page does not decideThe operator still chooses the clinical settings

This page explains interface mechanics only. It does not select a mode, tidal volume, respiratory rate, FiO₂, PEEP, pressure target, trigger, or alarm limit for a patient.

Button paths and monitored-parameter descriptions were checked against the HAMILTON-T1 U.S. operator’s manual for software 3.0.x. Hamilton currently advertises newer 3.1.x software, so labels, enabled options, and available functions may differ on the unit in front of you.
