Act
- Bag slowly; allow full exhalation.
- Lower RR and shorten inspiratory time/increase inspiratory flow as appropriate.
- Treat bronchospasm and dyssynchrony.
- Consider brief disconnect if crashing and air trapping is suspected.
Rescue pathway
Air trapping can worsen oxygenation and cause hypotension.
